Bridges are becoming the popular choice for tooth replacement amongst many people who loose their teeth in accidents or as a result of decaying.
The process includes removing the tooth structure from the teeth before it can be crowned. Once this is done, a Bridge can be placed by cementing crowns using special materials over the teeth and either side of the gap being filled.
A bridge can avert the chain-reaction of dental problems that can occur when a tooth is lost. These can include;
- The tooth opposing the missing tooth can start to extrude from its socket.
- The missing tooth can cause chewing problems.
- It is much harder to clean the teeth that have shifted, and this may cause further tooth loss through the advancement of periodontal disease.
